HIPAA is short for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
HIPAA was created to improve health insurance portability,
prevent healthcare fraud & misuse, and simplify
healthcare administration while protecting the privacy
of individual’s health information. HIPAA regulations
allow the patient to have more control over who may
access their patient information.
OSS is committed to protecting the privacy rights of
it’s patients. If you have questions about patient
privacy, please download the Notice of Privacy
Practices below. This notice will explain how
we may use and disclose your medical information, our
obligations related to the use and disclosure of your
medical information and your rights related to medical
information that we have about you. This notice applies
to the medical information that is generated in or by
OSS.
With a few exceptions, we are required to obtain your
authorization for the use or discloser of information
for reasons other than for treatment, payment or health
care operations. Our Authorization to Release
Information form is also available for download.
